Eurocopter Turns to Sinequa for Unified Information Access

Paris, April 17, 2013 - Sinequa, one of the leaders of the Search and Unified Information Access (UIA) market, announces that its solution has been chosen by EUROCOPTER, an EADS subsidiary, to improve access to enterprise data and thus increase performance and satisfaction of its employees.

In line with the complexity of the company's products, rapid and easy access to up-to-date technical information represents a considerable challenge.

Indeed, the large European company with a world-wide presence needs to provide a highly secure access to relevant data from most diverse sources and in a variety of languages.

Eurocopter was looking for a solution that could meet all its different professional needs in the context of accessing relevant information, rather than creating a specific solution for each profession.

After a conclusive Proof of Concept (POC), Sinequa was selected amongst the big players of the Search market, in order to replace Eurocopter's existing solution from a Search provider recently acquired by a large conglomerate. Amongst the IT criteria of the choice, Sinequa's Grid architecture and the ensuing scalability were important for Eurocopter. The current architecture at Eurocopter is composed of a 5-node Sinequa Grid distributed across the sites at Marignane (France), Donauwrth (Germany), and La Courneuve (France). This architecture can easily be extended to subsidiaries in America and Asia.

" Sinequa demonstrated its competence and reactivity during the POC. We are impressed by the speed of integration of the Sinequa solution and its security management in our complex IT environment. A large number of connectors are contained in the standard product, and its Grid architecture has offered us the scalability levels we were looking for " confirms the project leader at Eurocopter.

Two business solutions are operational today: Access to technical data for a group of about 800 technical experts, and access to the data of the group Intranet for the approximately 15.000 employees of the group across the world.

The experts from Technical Support are looking for relevant information not only in technical data and documentation contained in such systems as Filenet and in file systems, but also in emails, for example. The unified information access offered by the Sinequa platform helps them assemble all relevant information pertaining to a client case in one structured space in which they can easily navigate and find their way.

The "motorization" of the Intranet and the access to the image bank of helicopters covers four languages: French, German, Spanish, and English. The unified access to data on the Intranet is simpler and offers a new navigation based on search.

The linguistic capabilities of the solution help analyze users' requests as well as the contents of documents, in order to optimize the relevance of information delivered and thus reduce search time to a minimum. Filters and a taxonomy that are specific to Eurocopter's activity have been defined in order to facilitate the extraction of technical terms from free text.

Due to a high performance generalized search, each and every employee can now find, in real time, the specific information they need for their work images, rules and regulations, agreements, procedures, reports, and forms.

For the future, Eurocopter considers extending the usage of Sinequa Unified Information Access to the indexation of further applications, such as PLM and CRM, and to other backbone systems deployed within the company.

About Eurocopter

The Eurocopter group was created in 1992 with the merger between the helicopter divisions of Aerospatiale-matra (France) and DaimlerChrysler Aerospace (Germany).

The group is now a subsidiary owned 100% by EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company), one of the three largest aerospace groups in the world. By a process of successive integrations, Eurocopter has become Europe's leading fully-integrated aeronautical group and is, at present, composed of three entities: the parent company, Eurocopter, the German subsidiary, Eurocopter Deutschland; and the Spanish subsidiary, Eurocopter Espaa. This ultimate configuration has enabled the group to have unified command structures, while at the same time respecting the national identities of the partner nations.
