March 30, 2009 - University Paris Descartes selects Sinequa in a strategic project for access to information via its ENT (Environnement Numérique de Travail) portal and its web site

University Paris Descartes, university for Human Sciences and Health in Paris, chose Sinequa in a strategic project for access to information via its ENT (Environnement Numérique de Travail) portal and its web site. This project is part of the communication tools and publications that the University offers to its community.

The ENT of University Paris Descartes enables 40,000 users (students, teachers, researchers, technical and administrative staff) to access all resources and digital services available depending on their profile and in connection with their activities. The ENT is available online (for authentication) and provides a single point of secure entry to structure and present the services and the establishment in a coherent and ergonomic manner.

The linguistic and semantic search engine Sinequa CS is at the heart of this project and will allow users to easily find any document or information contained in the ENT using a simple query with keywords. Sinequa CS connects to and indexes all data sources (the directory of the university, the documents in the GED, the courseware, resources and teaching materials...) to provide a list of responses related to the keywords. The user can then refine the search by date, theme, etc.

Fabienne Leroy Carat, Department of Computer Science and Information Systems (DISI), University Paris Descartes commented "Sinequa will improve our research and support decision making by creating a link between the relevant documents and the keywords proposed by the search engine. The ENT will be more accessible to the academic community. Users will quickly find the resources they need in order to work."

"Sinequa CS allows better management of digital and online information systems at the University of Paris Descartes. We are pleased to have won this tender," said Jean Ferré, President of Sinequa. "The Sinequa search engine offers new features designed to facilitate cooperative work and sharing of content among members of a community. Sinequa provides access to all publications of the University of Paris Descartes. This project is emblematic for me of the purpose of a good search engine in the world of education and administration."
